After the release of Zelda: TOTK, players discovered an unexpected glitch that allowed them to duplicate items, food, and combat gear.

Of course, this glitch was not intended by the game developers, and Zelda’s latest post-launch patch has addressed the issue.

On May 25, Version 1.1.2 was released, which not only fixed various bugs but also eliminated the duplication glitch. Although the patch notes did not explicitly mention the glitch, multiple Zelda accounts have confirmed its absence in the game.

The full Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom patch notes for May 25 are detailed below:

Audio Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the sound would play at an extremely high volume in certain conditions.

Additional Fixes

  • Fixed an issue in the main quest, “Camera Work in the Depths”, where players could not progress beyond a certain point. Downloading the update will allow players to proceed past that point.
  • Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.

Although the removal of the duplication glitch in the latest patch may disappoint certain players, it is understandable that developers strive to maintain the intended gameplay experience.

The glitch allowed some players to duplicate incredibly rare and valuable items, such as Diamonds, which significantly altered the balance of playthroughs, challenges, and item acquisition within the game. By eliminating the glitch, the developers aim to restore the intended level of difficulty and gameplay progression.

As Zelda continues to evolve, Nintendo will likely release additional patches to address new glitches, bugs, and issues that may arise in a game as expansive as TOTK.
