After having last week confirmed that Gamescom’s Opening Night Live 2023 presentation wouldn’t feature too many new game announcements, Geoff Keighly had tempered expectations for this year’s showcase. As it turned out, though, what we got were plenty of exciting takeaways. Here we’ll be wrapping up all the major Gamescom 2023 trailers you should know about.

Homeworld 3

Serving as the finale for the pre-show, Homeworld 3’s story trailer teed up a space opera of epic proportions.


The Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live commenced with the highly anticipated launch of Starfield. If you’ve been keeping up with We Game Daily’s coverage ahead of its release next month you’ll already know Bethesda had teased a big showcase at Gamecome. It didn’t disappoint!

Little Nightmares 3

Following that, the highly anticipated trailer for Little Nightmares 3 was revealed by Supermassive Games, assuring gamers of an incredibly immersive nightmare encounter in the year 2024. In addition to this exciting announcement, a spine-chilling podcast called The Sounds of Nightmares, taking place within the Little Nightmares universe, was also unveiled. For those intrigued, the first two episodes of the podcast are now readily available for your listening pleasure.

Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong, the highly anticipated next installment, draws its inspiration from Wu Cheng’en’s 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West. If you get the opportunity, I highly recommend reading it.

Killing Floor 3

The highly anticipated Killing Floor 3 is the upcoming addition to the renowned action/horror franchise. This adrenaline-fueled first-person shooter immerses you in the role of a Nightfall specialist, collaborating with a team of up to five individuals to combat hordes of Zeds. As you progress, you’ll accumulate currency, unlock abilities, and construct the most powerful arsenal imaginable. It was among the highlights of this year’s Gamescom 2023 trailers.

Crimson Desert

Next came a gameplay update trailer for Crimson Desert, an upcoming action RPG from Pearl Abyss that first appeared a few years back and more or less disappeared ever since. It’s now looking even more impressive, possibly set to push the benchmark of open world fantasy RPGs forward.

Payday 3

Afterward, the focus of the show shifted to Payday 3, which was presented by Ice-T. The trailer showcased the Port Jersey Heist, featuring Ice-T as one of the characters. Mark your calendars for the release of Payday 3 on Sept. 21, 2023.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Following that, the focus shifted to Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which was presented through an exciting new trailer. Set to launch on Oct. 5, this highly anticipated game will be accessible on platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Coming up next is Tekken 8, accompanied by an exciting new trailer. This installment boasts an impressive roster of 32 fighters and introduces a fresh single-player experience called Arcade Quest. If you’re eager to engage in thrilling battles, mark your calendar for the highly anticipated release on Jan. 26, 2024.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Following that, we were treated to an extensive preview of the gameplay for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which marks the inaugural direct sequel in the Modern Warfare franchise. Mark your calendars for Nov. 10, 2023, as that’s when you’ll be able to dive into the action yourself.

Zenless Zone Zero

Following that, the preview for Zenless Zone Zero, a fresh urban fantasy JRPG, was unveiled. Crafted by HoYoVerse, the masterminds behind the renowned Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, this game is also recognized as ZZZ.

Lords of the Fallen

Lords of the Fallen arrived next with a new story trailer. Part sequel, part reboot, the dark fantasy RPG based on FromSoftware’s Souls series arrives next year.

The First Descendant

The Science-fiction genre made a comeback with the release of the trailer for The First Descendant. Gamers will have the opportunity to participate in an open beta for this crossplay game, scheduled to run from Sept. 19 to Sept. 25, 2023.

Under the Waves

Next, we journeyed beenath the sea with Under The Waves. If you want to discover what lies in the watery depths, get ready for 29th August 2023.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty was next to take the stage, with a trailer for the long-awaited DLC. A host of new changes, such as redesigned perks, new vehicles and vehicle combat, arrive in Cyberpunk 2077 alongside this spy thriller-themed DLC. Many of the improvements to the gameplay will be arriving to the base game for free on current-gen consoles and PC.


Stormgate, a science-fiction real-time strategy game, from Frost Giant Studio showcased a bunch of new gameplay.

Mortal Kombat 1

Next, we were presented with a fresh trailer showcasing Mortal Kombat 1. It provided us with a glimpse of the intense combat and fighting mechanics. The opportunity to unleash devastating fatalities will be available starting on Sept. 19.

Following that, we were treated to an exclusive sneak peek of Mortal Kombat 1 via a fresh and captivating trailer. This exhilarating preview displayed the game’s intense combat mechanics and heart-pounding fighting sequences. Make sure to mark Sept. 19on your calendars as the day you can start unleashing deadly finishing moves.


Coming up next is Dustborn, an alternative history America single player game that puts a strong emphasis on narrative. Scheduled for an early 2024 release, this cel-shaded game is highly anticipated.

Thank Goodness You’re Here

Coming up next is Thank Goodness You’re Here!, a highly anticipated game by the makers of The Good Time Garden. Set to be released in 2024, this earworm tune-infused game is sure to captivate players.

Alan Wake 2

The conclusion of Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live was marked by the highly anticipated release of Alan Wake 2. The event featured a captivating new trailer that provided insight into the mysterious endeavors of the main character, the titular author, within The Dark Place. Additionally, the trailer hinted at the potential directions the game will explore.

Remedy, the developer of Alan Wake 2, recently decided to postpone its release date to Oct. 27 in order to avoid competing with other game releases.
