There are many spooky creatures you’ll have to battle across The Island in ARK Survival Ascended, but the Broodmother is one of the trickier ones. Here, we walk you through how to summon and beat the Broodmother in ARK Survival Ascended to give you the best chance of taking down this spider-like monstrosity.
Fighting Broodmother in ARK Survival Ascended
The Broodmother in ARK Survival Ascended is a gigantic spider-like creature. It’s a force to be reckoned with, boasting powerful attacks that include unleashing smaller spiders or Araneos on its opponents. It can also slow down players with its web attacks or launch ranged acid assaults. Although it’s a tough boss, with the right strategy and gear, it’s not an insurmountable challenge.
How to Summon Broodmother
In order to summon the Broodmother, you’ll need to gather certain items and reach a specific player level. The requirements vary based on the difficulty level selected: Gamma, Beta, or Alpha.

Preparing to Fight the Broodmother & Choosing Tames
When it comes to facing the Broodmother, you’ll first want to ensure you’re properly prepared. Your choice of tames can significantly impact the outcome of the battle. Megatheriums and Yutyrannus are highly recommended. Megatheriums are particularly effective due to their Insect Killer buff, which inflicts extra damage on the Broodmother. Yutyrannus, with its courage roar ability and strong stats, can also be a game-changer in this battle.
Equipping Appropriate Gear
Aside from tames, your gear is another important aspect of preparation. Metallic armor and a shotgun are recommended. The shotgun, in particular, can deal substantial damage, although the majority of the damage will come from your tames.
Don’t forget to pack some useful consumables. Chilli, Stew, or Cooked Meat are ideal for their health restoration properties. Moreover, they offer movement speed buffs, which can be beneficial in evading the Araneos summoned by the Broodmother.
How to Beat Broodmother in ARK Survival Ascended
The Broodmother and its Araneos can inflict Torpor damage, which can render you unconscious or even lead to death. No surprises, then, that it’s imperative to dodge those hits as much as possible. As you’ll quickly find out, Broodmother’s primary attack strategy involves unleashing smaller spiders or Araneos. When this happens, you should focus on avoiding them rather than fighting back.
Position yourself on the opposite side of the Obelisk from her, maintain a safe distance to avoid her ranged attacks, and provide ample time to eliminate the spiderlings before they can close in on you.
If you have any creatures accompanying you, you have a choice: you can instruct them to target the Broodmother, allowing them to engage her while you concentrate on her alone. Or, set them to either an aggressive or neutral stance, directing their efforts towards the smaller spiders, effectively creating a protective barrier for yourself. Rex Rushing works really well, too, if you have them — allowing you to inflict damage while reducing the risk of taking much in return.
Another strategy is to construct a metal tower near the Obelisk. From the top of this tower, you can fire down on the boss with relative safety.
In either case, defeating the Broodmother will ultimately require a substantial amount of firepower. You’ll do well not to lose tamed creatures so prepare yourself mentally for that!
