Another one on the way soon.

A new Valorant Episode is around the corner, and as is typical it’s bringing a big content update. Not only is there a Team Deathmatch mode on the way but a new Agent as well. Codenamed Deadlock (not Cashew), Agent 23 will be the first addition to the roster since Gekko back in March. Let’s check out everything we know about Valorant Agent 23 Deadlock, including their release date, abilities, and all the leaks in between.

This article is recently updated, containing new information about the Agent’s actual codename, as well as some short teasers over the past few days. Most recently, we have included new leaks that have confirmed her abilities.

New Valorant Agent 23 Deadlock Abilities

New Valorant Agent Deadlock’s abilities have now been revealed. Here they are in full:

  • GravNet (C)
    • EQUIP a GravNet grenade. FIRE to throw. ALT FIRE to lob the grenade underhand. The GravNet detonates upon landing, forcing any enemies caught within to crouch and move slowly.
  • Sonic Sensor (Q)
    • EQUIP a Sonic Sensor. FIRE to deploy. The sensor monitors an area for enemies making sound. It concusses that area if footsteps, weapons fire, or significant noise are detected.
  • Barrier Mesh (E)
    • EQUIP a Barrier Mesh disc. FIRE to throw forward. Upon landing, the disc generates barriers from the origin point that block character movement.
  • Annihilation (X)
    • EQUIP a Nanowire Accelerator. FIRE to unleash a pulse of nanowires that captures the first enemy contacted. The cocooned enemy is pulled along a nanowire path and will die if they reach the end, unless they are freed. The nanowire cocoon is destructible.

Announcement & Timeline

Below you’ll find the full timeline of Deadlock teasers, which preceded the information listed above. This article has been updated overtime.

Valorant recently celebrated its three-year anniversary in June 2023, and the developers marked the occasion by offering fans a glimpse of what’s in store for the rest of the year. One of the exciting announcements was the introduction of two new agents. One doesn’t arrive until the second half of this year, but the other is coming very soon indeed.

Update 23/06/2023: Here’s the latest teaser for Deadlock.

Update 22/06/2023: Another teaser for Deadlock, this time featuring Cypher.

Update 21/06/2023: Valorant’s latest Agent isn’t called Cashew after all. A new datamine has revealed the upcoming sentinel is actually codenamed Deadlock.

Original article continues below.

And it’s the first of these Agents, described as a “deadly” sentinel Agent and codenamed Cashew, we’re discussing here.

We actually already knew of Agent 23’s codename, Cashew, thanks to a datamine way back in March. Well, it’s not quite that simple actually. There are a number of Agents in development right now and there’s a chance that Cashew isn’t the one we’re getting next (edit: as turned out to be the case). It might instead be Cable, another codename which was recently discovered:

Just keep in mind that this won’t be the official in-game name of the character.

Here’s a roundup of what we currently know about Agent 23, the upcoming sentinel agent in Valorant.

New Valorant Agent Release Date

As for when Agent 23 Deadlock will actually launch, well, as we’ve said before it’s almost certainly coming as part of the launch of Episode 7. That’s due in just a short while, on June 27/28 (depending on your region).

More information about the new Valorant Agent, including their name, release date, origin, and complete ability kit, is expected to be revealed in the near future. Be sure to check back in with We Game Daily as we keep this article updated moving forward.
