For my next trick...

In Pacific Drive, Transmuters are devices that aid your survival by transforming one type of material into another. However, their operation can be a little tricky to work out at first. If you’re as confused as we were, here’s a more detailed guide on how to use the Transmuter in Pacific Drive.

How Transmuters Work in Pacific Drive

Transmuters take one type of material and transform it into a different one. The materials they require and the output they provide can vary, making it challenging to plan your scavenging trips around them. For example, you might encounter a Transmuter that turns Bulbs into Lead Platelets or Plastic into Chemicals, but there’s no guarantee you’ll find the same exchange on your next run.

Finding Transmuters

Transmuters are most commonly found in ARDA buildings, particularly in trailers or towers. To increase your chances of encountering one, before selecting a route, look at the map in the garage to identify junctions with a high density of buildings. This increases the likelihood of ARDA buildings spawning.

Also, if you see towers on the map, prioritize visiting them, as they almost always house a Transmuter.

Using Transmuters

Once you’ve found a Transmuter, interact with it to see what material it requires and what it will provide in return. If the Transmuter offers something you need, scour the junction to collect the required material. You’ll typically need more than three units of the material to make a trade.

One top tip we have is to check you have all your resource-collecting tools, such as the Scrapper, Hand Vac, Liberator, Impact Hammer, and Prybar, in your trunk. This will allow you to efficiently gather the materials needed for the exchange.

That wraps up our overview of Transmuters in Pacific Drive. Keep in mind that it’s often best to stumble upon Transmuters rather than actively seeking them out, as you might not have the specific materials they require. Also, while it’s tempting to carry a stack of the same type of material in your side storage, it’s better to keep space for new materials you collect during your journey.
