Originally scheduled for an earlier release this year, fans have eagerly awaited the chance to immerse themselves in the universe of Harry Potter. With the Nintendo Switch’s vast and diverse player base, the prospects for this edition seem promising. JB Perrette, CEO of global streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery, shared his high hopes for this new venture during the company’s first-quarter earnings call in May.

He stated, “We see that as probably a much bigger install base and a fan base that, as relates to the franchise of Harry Potter, which obviously appeals to a very big audience globally, and in markets like Japan where Nintendo has a big footprint and Harry Potter skews very strongly in terms of popularity, we see a much bigger upside probably from that release, certainly than the Gen 8 [release].”

Hogwarts Legacy has already proved to be a monumental success. In the first half of 2023, it comfortably secured the title of Europe’s best-selling game. The game’s release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 10 saw it selling over 12 million copies and raking in an astonishing $850 million in sales during its first two weeks. This impressive launch made Hogwarts Legacy Warner Bros.’ biggest game release ever.
