Icing on the cake.

If you thought CDPR was resting on its laurels after Cyberpunk 2077’s update 2.0, think again. The developer has today announced Cyberpunk 2077 2.1, a major new patch that offers a plethora of new features, enhancements, and improvements. The most notable inclusion is the long-awaited metro system that will significantly change the way players navigate around Night City.

The working metro system, often dubbed as the Night City Area Rapid Transit (NCART), is a significant feature that fans have been eagerly awaiting since the game’s launch. With the new update, players can utilize the metro system to commute across Night City, enhancing the overall gameplay experience and immersion.

Cyberpunk 2077 2.1 Metro Update, Explained

The NCART will feature 19 operational stations across five different lines, enabling players to traverse the sprawling metropolis from the comfort of a metro train. The game currently utilizes several NCART stops as fast travel points. However, the forthcoming update expands their functionality, allowing players to experience an authentic commuting experience.

The metro system becomes accessible after passing the Konpeki Plaza section of the game. Players can approach any of the 19 metro stations, select their desired destination from the metro map, and embark on their journey. The update also offers the option to fast-forward through the trip with a simple button press if the players wish to reach their destination quickly.

While the metro system primarily serves as a means of transportation, it promises much more than just a ride. Players can expect to engage in conversations with fellow riders and possibly uncover secret events during their metro journeys. CDPR has hinted at some hidden surprises for the players who opt for metro travel, adding a sense of anticipation and excitement to commuting.

Another major feature coming with the 2.1 update is the portable radio. This feature enables players to tune into their favorite radio stations while on foot or during their metro travel. However, during critical quests or important conversations where the dialogue is key, the radio will automatically turn off, thereby ensuring an uninterrupted gaming experience.

Enhanced Gameplay Features & New Content

The forthcoming update also brings a host of accessibility options, making the game more inclusive and player-friendly. Additionally, improvements to boss fights are being introduced to make them more challenging and engaging. For instance, Adam Smasher, a notorious antagonist in the game, will now be equipped with his Sandevistan – a reflex and speed-enhancing operating system. Elsewhere, there’s more engaging romance hangouts for romanceable characters, which should make the whole RPG experience more compelling.

Replayable car races are also being added, offering opportunities to unlock new vehicle-based rewards. Moreover, 5 new vehicles will be added to the game, including a kickass drop-top Porsche that looks absolutely stunning.

Alongside the 2.1 update, CD Projekt Red is also releasing the Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition on December 5. This edition bundles the base game and its Phantom Liberty DLC expansion (which sold an insane amount of copies), offering an exhaustive Cyberpunk 2077 experience.

The 2.1 update promises to significantly enhance the Cyberpunk 2077 gaming experience, bringing in several new features, improvements, and enhancements. With the integration of the long-awaited metro system, improved accessibility features, enhanced boss fights, and more, we’re absolutely stoked that the Nighty City gameplay experience is about to become even more engaging than it’s already marked improvement in 2.0.
